Every element plays an important role in the bonsai\u2019s creation, so remembering the names allows for a deeper understanding of bonsai.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;3541&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; el_class=&#8221;pc_contents&#8221;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;2651&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; el_class=&#8221;sp_contents&#8221;][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;sp_contents&#8221;]<\/p>\n<div class=\"tsukuri_container\">\n<div class=\"tsukuri_box\">\n<div class=\"tsukuri_ttl\">\u2776 Nebari &#8211; Surface roots<\/div>\n<div class=\"tsukuri_txt\">Roots that are exposed to appear above the surface of the soil.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"tsukuri_box\">\n<div class=\"tsukuri_ttl\">\u2777 Miki &#8211; Trunk<\/div>\n<div class=\"tsukuri_txt\">A thick, sturdy trunk (the section joining the roots to the upper parts of the tree) naturally tapers towards the top and is well balanced, creating the sense of a large tree.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"tsukuri_box\">\n<div class=\"tsukuri_ttl\">\u2778 Ichi no eda &#8211; First branch<\/div>\n<div class=\"tsukuri_txt\">Closest to the base of the tree, this is an important branch.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"tsukuri_box\">\n<div class=\"tsukuri_ttl\">\u2779 Ni no eda &#8211; Second branch<\/div>\n<div class=\"tsukuri_txt\">The branch above the first branch, often grown on the opposite side of the first branch.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"tsukuri_box\">\n<div class=\"tsukuri_ttl\">\u277a San no eda (Ura eda)- Third branch (back branch)<\/div>\n<div class=\"tsukuri_txt\">The third branch from the bottom. In this example it serves as the \u201cback branch\u201d to enhance the sense of depth.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"tsukuri_box\">\n<div class=\"tsukuri_ttl\">\u277b Shi no eda &#8211; Fourth branch<\/div>\n<div class=\"tsukuri_txt\">The fourth branch from the bottom.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"tsukuri_box\">\n<div class=\"tsukuri_ttl\">\u277c Eda dana &#8211; Foliage pad<\/div>\n<div class=\"tsukuri_txt\">A cluster of foliage and small branches growing out from a branch that forms a dense pad, implying a larger branch system.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"tsukuri_box\">\n<div class=\"tsukuri_ttl\">\u277d Jukan &#8211; Tree crown<\/div>\n<div class=\"tsukuri_txt\">The branches and leaves that form the mass of foliage at the uppermost part of a tree; the uppermost part of a tree.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"tsukuri_box\">\n<div class=\"tsukuri_ttl\">\u277e Atama &#8211; Head<\/div>\n<div class=\"tsukuri_txt\">The head or crown of a bonsai; the apex of the tree crown.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"tsukuri_box\">\n<div class=\"tsukuri_ttl\">\u277f Yakueda &#8211; Key branch<\/div>\n<div class=\"tsukuri_txt\">A branch that is integral to the tree\u2019s structure.
